XTB Review 2024
Why choose XTB
XTB would be a top choice for traders on the strength of its CFD trading fees and product selection alone, but recently it has expanded its offerings to also include real stocks and ETFs in many countries, making it ideal for CFD traders who want to diversify into more traditional assets. All of this can be done on XTB’s excellent xStation suite of trading platforms, which I found really well-designed and easy to navigate. XTB is one of the biggest and most established CFD brokers out there. Besides CFDs, you can also invest in real stocks and ETFs, making XTB a solid choice for traders and investors alike.
- Commission-free stocks and ETFs (for trades up to €100k per month)
- Free and fast deposit and withdrawal
- Easy and fast account opening
- High interest paid on cash
Cons
- Inactivity fee charged
- High conversion
Fees
XTB has low trading fees and non-trading fees. In many cases, there’s no withdrawal fee, and there is free stock and ETF trading. XTB currently pays interest ( 5% for USD) on cash balances for all clients. However, there’s an inactivity fee.
- Free stocks/ETFs up to €100k monthly volume
- Most bank transfer withdrawals are free
- Interest on uninvested funds (at XTB UK)
Cons
- Inactivity fee
We compared XTB’s fees with two similar brokers we selected, eToro and Capital.com. These competitors were selected based on objective factors like products offered, client profile, fee structure, etc. See a more detailed comparison of XTB alternatives.
Commission-free real stock and ETFs
It’s extremely great as XTB has commission-free US stock trading.
Broker | US stock |
---|---|
XTB | $0.0 |
eToro | $0.0 |
Capital.com | – |
XTB provides real stocks and ETFs only for UK and EU customers (EU customers who are onboarded under XTB’s Polish entity).
There is no commission for stocks and ETFs if you trade less than €100,000 in a month. While favorable, this is still not the best offer on the market, as some competitors such as eToro or Capital.com offer commission-free trading without any limitations.
Low FX fees
All fees are built into the spread, so there is no separate commission charged. For example, the EUR/USD spread is 0.8.
Broker | EURUSD spread | FX commission per lot |
---|---|---|
XTB | 0.8 | No commission is charged |
eToro | 1.0 | No commission is charged |
Capital.com | 0.6 | No commission is charged |
Low index CFD fees
All index CFD fees are built into the spread. The spread for S&P 500 index CFDs is 0.5.
Broker | S&P 500 CFD spread |
---|---|
XTB | 0.5 |
eToro | 0.8 |
Capital.com | 0.8 |
Low inactivity fee, no withdrawal fee
There is no account fee, no deposit fee for bank transfer deposits, and no withdrawal fee for bank transfer withdrawals above a certain threshold (between $50-$200 depending on your country of residence).
The fee charged for credit/debit card or electronic wallet deposits depends on your country of residence. The fee charged for these transfers is usually up to 2%. For example, for UK customers, credit/debit card transfers are free of charge but USD transfers via electronic wallets carry a 2% fee.
Lastly, there is a €10 monthly fee after one year of inactivity.
Broker | Inactivity fee | Withdrawal fee |
---|---|---|
XTB | $0 | |
eToro | $5 | |
Capital.com | $0 |
Other commissions and fees
Low stock CFD fees: all stock CFD fees are built into the spread. The spread for Apple stock CFDs is 0.6.
Broker | Apple CFD | Vodafone CFD |
---|---|---|
XTB | $2.9 | $3.9 |
eToro | $2.0 | – |
Capital.com | $0.6 | $0.1 |
